Can we be Catholics?

http://www.nation.co.ke/News/africa/-/1066/676658/-/135nkjrz/-/

The following story has made us wonder if the Modern Muslim Movement should be Catholic? We at Modern Muslim Movement are now calling for all Muslim leaders to repent or resign for giving the religion a bad name. If you are a Muslim Leader and corrupt you must resign. Wait that means.....every leader has to resign. Every single one. Maybe they could convert to Hinduism; what is their view on corrupt leaders?

Roman Catholic bishops called on corrupt Catholic leaders in Africa on Saturday to repent or resign for giving the continent and the Church a bad name.

Around 200 African bishops, along with dozens of other bishops and Africa experts, also accused multinational companies in Africa of “crimes against humanity” and urged Africans to beware of “surreptitious” attempts by international organizations to destroy traditional African values.

Their three-week synod, which ends formally on Sunday with a mass by Pope Benedict, covered a range of Africa’s problems, such as AIDS, corruption, poverty, development aspirations and crime.

But it had a very direct message for corrupt African leaders who were raised Catholics. “Many Catholics in high office have fallen woefully short in their performance in office. The synod calls on such people to repent, or quit the public arena and stop causing havoc to the people and giving the Catholic Church a bad name.”

The message did not name any leaders. The international community has for years called on Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who was raised a Catholic and educated by Jesuits, to step down, saying he had brought his once-prosperous country to its knees.

Another African leader who was raised a Catholic and has been accused of corruption is Angola’s President Eduardo dos Santos. Both men deny any wrongdoing. Rights groups and international agencies have accused Angola’s government of siphoning away billions in oil revenue and urged it to improve transparency.

Angola rivals Nigeria as Africa’s biggest oil producer but about two thirds of the population live on less than $2 a day. It ranks 158th on Transparency International’s 180-nation list, in which the country perceived as most corrupt is in last place.

The synod bishops hit out forcefully at multinational companies, saying they were one of Africa’s greatest problems. “Multinationals have to stop their criminal devastation of the environment in their greedy exploitation of natural resources,” the bishops said.

“It is short-sighted policy to foment wars in order to make fast gains from chaos, at the cost of human lives and blood. Is there no-one out there able and willing to stop all these crimes against humanity?”

Women of Note

We have always promoted equality of sex. We have always promoted the rights of differences.
Today we recommend the two books written by women about the muslim world. There are parts we do not agree with but many more we admire. And as books written by women about the Muslim world it is our duty to promote and give our approval. In our ideal world our approval should not matter. In a free world you read whatever you choose.

"Questioning the Veil: Open letters to Muslim Women." by Marnia Lazreg

"A Woman among Warlords" by Malalai Joya

In Ms. Joya's case her life as an Afghan and her stance against the drug lords and the corruption of the government puts her in danger every minute of her life. Let us pray she does not win the Nobel prize and have her accomplishments tarnished by the now infamous award.

How is this religion?

Does Allah want you to abuse his children? Does Allah want you to kill his children?
We are Allah's creations, would he being Allah allow anyone to harm his creations?
The answers to these questions can dictate your faith, your life, and your views of religion.
Those who answer NO, understand what it means to be a muslim. They are US. They do not kill, maim or punish in the name of Allah. They do not follow people on earth in the name of Allah.
Those who answer YES, are the fanatics, the Al-Queda, the Taliban, and all other nut cases in this world.

How is this religion? When in the name of Allah, you kill your daughters, you amputate your brothers, and blow up fellow muslims. How? Which Allah are you trying to honor?

Which religion are you following?
